Origami and Digital Media

Cover titled "Origami y medios digitales" combining themes of traditional paper art and digital media.

The thesis "Origami and Digital Media: New Forms of Abstract Expression in Contemporary Art" addresses the question of how origami techniques and the exploration of digital media can generate new forms of abstract expression in contemporary art and how these digital forms can be translated into tangible pieces that incorporate elements of origami tradition and digital experimentation. Through the creation of three artworks employing different approaches and methodologies, the thesis has demonstrated that the combination of origami tradition and digital technology can lead to interesting and novel artworks that can have a significant impact on contemporary art.

The first artwork, "Absence of Meaning," uses a combination of digital and manual techniques to visually represent the complexity of human experience and the search for purpose and personal transformation in existential void. The second artwork involved creating new butterflies based on a recurring theme in Gabriel García Márquez's works, illustrating how origami can be used to create artworks referencing specific themes. The third artwork, focusing on the creation of a 2D and 3D piece using the octahedron as the main figure, demonstrates the fusion of origami tradition and digital technology into interesting abstract and geometric forms.

Overall, the thesis has broadened the understanding of the creative possibilities offered by these techniques and has shown that the combination of origami and digital technology can result in valuable artworks in contemporary art.
