Self-Portrait

Illustration is an artist's visualization, not limited to drawing but encompassing various forms like painting, collage, or photography. It serves to explain a concept, distinguishing it from pure artwork. An illustration can convey ideas independently of text, telling a story through visual language. This project aims to translate existential reflections into visual exercises using graphic tools, showcasing my prior illustration work and knowledge.

Illustrato Project

For the illustrato project, I decided to create a CD box with three faces. To achieve this, I sketched on paper how the final box would look. As evident in the process, there were many details I did not include because I concluded it would be too cluttered. I maintained the color palette, using only white cardstock for the box and red cardstock for the cover and back of the booklet.

After completing the white cardstock box, I chose to add the booklet cover and fuse it, as fewer elements enhance the minimalist goal set for the booklet. This decision aligns with the content of Rosalía's Moto Mami Album.

The technique used to hold the CD is known as Pop-ups, involving folds that rise when a page is opened to simulate a three-dimensional shape. Initially, I planned to create a butterfly in Pop-ups where the CD is placed, but as the cover and back already featured one, it would appear overly busy.

With these three elements, I approached the container box, achieving an eye-catching way to display the CD that is also secure, requiring lifting to remove the CD from the packaging
